need help for “fast previews” settings
Hello 🙂
Anyone that can help me with the fast preview settings.
Everytime I try to preview something in AE that has a bit effects in it, it is allmost impossible to preview because its taking to long time just to preview 2 or 3 frames, so its hard to work on anything when I cant watch all the details.
got 4gb ram ( though it says that I have 2,93gb ), 512mb 1950series from ATI, and a intel dual core 6600 ” 2.40GHz

here are some ways to speed up previews:
- reduce the preview resolution with the down sample pop up at the bottom of the preview window (it normally says full, try a lower setting to speed things up).
- right next to the down sample pop up is a feature called region of interest. use it to create a rectangle around a portion of the frame that you are focusing. this will preview just that area and thus reduce render time.
- use the ‘skip’ setting in the time controls panel (window>time controls) to tell ae to skip frames as it renders previews… your preview will be jerkier, but it will render a longer sequence faster.
- disable motion blur and frame blending for previews by toggling their icons in the time line.

yes, if the computer becomes too hot.
and the fast settings are for quick previews, if you want to see, for example, if the video syncs to the music
