Need Help Editing Feature Film Off Of Panasonic HVX-200
Hello, I was recently contracted to cut a feature film that is now being shot on the Panasonic HVX-200 with an adaptor for 35mm lenses. They are shooting to multiple 8gb p2 cards and dumping them on set. Now, they are takeing these cards and dumping them to an external Maxtor 600gb USB 2.0 drive via a PC laptop. Now the A.C. working on the show who has been relegated this task has never worked a feature before and has defiantly not worked with the P2 workflow, for that matter he isn

It is the item that tells the computer of any spanned clips.

No, there should have been one for each, but the Avid may have rejoined the spanned clips and thus the purpose was served.

What do you mean by discprencies? That doesn’t help me understand your situation.

In an actual CONTENTS folder there are subfolders, called Video, audio, icon, proxie, xml, and voice. On the HVX not all folders will have info in them. Much of the linking comes from the XML. A better bet to insure editability and still view the footage, would have been to keep the Contents Folders intact and view them one card at a time.

I am not seeing your directory here, you are saying that everything has been dumped into one folder and then you say this. I am confused. You may need to edit this on an PC Avid. Go Import P2 and that which can be imported will show up, then import all. If the computer can put them together from this big pot of soup it will, if not, then you will have to edit on an PC Avid.

So…There is a CONTENTS folder…but each subfolder holds EVERYTHING from the cards. ALL the video in the Video folder and so on? Did they copy any of the CLIPs? ICONs?
So you are able to import this footage, right? Because all the folders are there? If you are able to import, then all should be good. You just have a lot of organization to do.
And scold the crap out of the DP and AC for doing things wrong. And if they ever do this again, they are fired. Seriously. Post is where everything ends up and where they assembly of the film is done. It doesn’t matter how good something looks, if you can’t work with it in post, or you are seriously hampered by the PRODUCTION workflow, then they screwed up and shouldn’t be anywhere near this footage.
You don’t necessarily need the LASTCIP.txt file to import.

Yeah, haha sorry, everything from the 25 days is split up appropriately in the one master contents file. They did get mostly all of it, i.e. audio, video, icon, clip, etc.
