  • Need help changing memory settings to output 32bit Tiff

Posted by Kevin Berve on December 6, 2007 at 7:58 pm

I am stuck trying to render out a project to a 32-bit tiff sequence.
I get an error that says, “unable to allocate space for 4000 x 2667 image buffer.”

In Memory and Cache, I have increased my Maximum Memory usage to
200%, decreased my Maximum RAM cache size to 10% and created a disc
cache of 10000MB, but I still get the error.

Is there any way that I can get around this?
I could swear that I have done this before, but it won’t
    work now.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

You might have to look into reducing the resolution of the offending layer. Pre-rendering some assets can also help reduce the demands that AE makes on your RAM.

The only other option, which isn’t a guaranteed fix, is using the ‘Secret’ section of Preferences (hold shift before you navigate to the preferences dialog, go to the bottom in the drop down menu) to set a lower value for ‘Purge Layer Cache Every X Frames’ (Zero means this option is disabled, and AE will empty the layer cache as necessary, this is the default). This option should improve the stability of your render, but slow it down a lot.

Reducing the resolution of your layer, or pre-rendering some assets, would be a better solution.
