    Hey Everybody,
Well my Canon XH-A1’s came in the mail yesterday, so I went out and shot some stuff today. I am using Premiere Pro 2.0 ot capture and edit. However, now I’m having a lot of trouble capturing it. For some reason, Premiere Pro isn’t recognizing the camera or something. It keeps saying camera offline, or something like that. Sometimes only the record button is grayed out. I downloaded the CANON presets that can be found on the Adobe site, but I still am having trouble.

When connecting it to a computer:
When I’m in SD playback mode, the camera is recognized. However, when I turn it on in HDV mode, it isn’t recognized and the new hardware wizard comes up, but it never finds the software to install.

How do you guys capture video? Could you just explain the process that you undertook to make it possible? I would really appreciate it. I’m getting kind of upset… I did a search on google, and came up with some stuff, but they never were resolved. I’m looking for a step-by step solution, so i can make sure that I’m doing it right. Can anyone help?

See page 109 of the manual for the correct settings.

I went to page 109, corrected all of the settings, but I’m still having the same problems. If I have the camera on HDV playback when I connect it, it says it found new hardware and that it can’t find the software to install it. If I ignore this, and I go into Premiere Pro 2.0 and attempt to capture, it says device offline, and it won’t let me control the camera at all through Premiere.

When I have the camera in DV playback, when I connect the camera it recognizes it fine. However, when I go into Premiere Pro 2.0, and try to capture, it says device offline, but it will let me rewind, play, and fastfoward with the premiere controls. It just won’t let me record.

I’ve looked at the manual, adjusted the settings, I’ve downloaded the Canon Presets on the Adobe site, and I even downloaded a trial version of Cineform Aspect HD. I’m still having the same troubles. Can anyone help?

Make sure you have the camera in VCR mode, not Control mode (on the dial). It only asks or drivers when it’s put in control mode.

I put it in VCR mode: the same thing happens….

I’ve captured video before on other cameras, but this is my first time with HDV. ~

    Hey ,
I’m still having a ton of trouble —

Whenever I connect the camera, it does give me that message about ‘new hardware’ AV/C Sunit or something like that. I went and looked for the things in the Windows SP2.cab, found ’em and copied them to my desktop. Then I connected the camera again to load the drivers. Unfortunately, Windows won’t let me select them.

So I tried to insert them into my windows/system32/drivers directory manually. They were already there, so I didn’t copy them in.

Next, I plugged the camera back in, and chose install new hardware. I said install from a specific location, and it gave me a list of devices. I chose AVC Device Class – then it took me to a subcategory which had two options: AVC Device or Virtual AVC device. I chose AVC device, and clicked okay. It brought up a warning that I shouldn’t install this driver because it can’t be verified that this is what is needed for the hardware and that it could cause problems with my computer. I chickened out and exited. Should I choose it?

I’m stuck….and I’m sad. I can’t find any info on how to fix this problem…. I’ll keep looking around.

    Can you help?
