  • Need fix to a frame rate problem

    Hi,
Trying to close out a project for delivery tomorrow. UNFORTUNATELY, a critical scene was shot at 24P when it should have been shot at 30P. The pan and zoom look jerky. Is there a way to smooth out this shot in FCP or AE?
    Thanks for any help.

Give cinema tools a try. right click footage from Finder, open with cinema tools, choose conform.

Last week I was given some footage that was shot in 24P,, just dropped in timeline and rendered it looked awful.. Had little time before the piece had to go to air so I ran it through Cinema Tools.. Had never used Cinema Tools before,, but in minutes conformed the footage to 30FPS. The footage played faster in the FCP timeline,, but was totally smooth, just adjusted the playback speed and it was perfect.

I’m sure there probably is a better/propper way to deal with this,,, but in a pinch it saved my butt and playback was totally smooth.

Changing the frame rate in CT will speed up the footage, not smooth it out. If you need to smooth out the pans, then you should try adding motion blur, without changing the frame rate. You may need to do this in AE or Shake for the best results.

What format did you capture from? HD? SD? Cellphone?
