I did a google search for this already but I’m a bit confused.

I am going to edit a 30 min infomercial that needs closed caption.
I am editing it in FCP.

What’s a good closed caption software i could use that will take typed out text and add it to the closed caption line for output directly to Beta SP and/or DVCPRO and/or burn to dvd studio?

    TIA

    Sam

This is a place where’d I’d say to just let the pros do it.

Unless you really need to keep the dolars internal… its usually better to send out for closed captions… too many issues and too much work

You might be interested in Automatic Sync Technologies’ CaptionSync automated web-based captioning service (https://www.automaticsync.com/caption/broadcaption.htm). There is no software to buy, it’s just a use-it-when-you-need-it service. You can choose to get back Digital NLE Captions — a black MOV file with the captions at the top. You place this on your FCP timeline and it is embedded in the VBI when you print-to-tape. No shipping tapes, no gen loss, no FedEx, and not very expensive.
