I have read a few posts on this subject but I just want to be certain before I tell the client which codec to download so sorry if this issue has already been addressed. Shane Ross gave some great info, but i want to be sure which codec to tell the client to download. The footage was shot on a Panasonic 2700, the files are DVCPRO HD.

The client has a newer Macbook (sorry, I don’t know how new but he said within past couple years). It would appear that Calibrated Software is the way to go,and they download the DVCPRO Encode. The files are MXF, so could they download the free software from Panasonic? If so, which one do they download? is the P2 Viewer for Mac? DO they need the P2 Driver/Card formatter? Sorry, I don’t understand the difference.

    Thanks so much!

    P2CMS is what they need.

your the best! As always thanks. On another note, I have a 45gb file that needs to be put on an external drive for PC. Is there a recommendation on this? I know FAT32 isn’t the answer.

Use the exFAT format. Macs can create that format

    Hi,

I installed the latest version of P2CMS for OS X Lion and aren’t able to preview P2 clips.
I only get sound and a black screen, but no video!
Could the problem be that I’m working on a Macbook Retina with Mountain Lion installed and not Lion?
Or has anybody an idea what the problem could be.
    Thanks!

Use Prelude CS6 now and it’s a dream!
    Thx for the reactions!
