    This has turned out to be a complex solution to this, so I figure I need someone who knows their stuff pretty well-

    Running AE CS3 on one of the new Macbook Pros that does not have a number pad. I have Adobe’s KeyUp script to change the number pad shortcuts, but I work in music video and really need the ability to make layer markers while previewing audio. I have been able to change the “add layer marker” shortcut and make it work, but every time I try to use it it stops the preview instead of continuing playing/ adding a marker. Can anyone think of a solution to this?

    I figure AE has something already set to stop preview if any key is pressed, perhaps I can disable that.

    Any help is really appreciated.

    There’s some more about it here-

    Probably going to state the obvious, but the best answer is to purchase (or use if you have an extra) keyboard/mouse. Wireless is great. It really helps out having a keyboard at home and the office, and it turns in to a no-brainer with the shortcuts. But that is just my solution…..

    Wish ya luck…

    Austin,
    Adobe (or rather Apple) hasn’t forgotten laptop users;
    you should be able to add markers with the “fn + p'” combo
    you audio preview with “fn + >”

    the KeyUp may still work though, do you have to disable PadMultiply so it recognises its new assignment?

    Thanks for the responses-

    Unfortunately, that doesn’t work for me. (Not sure if you’re aware that the newest version of Macbook Pros do not have a number pad embedded at all) When I try those key combinations (Or any other I could think of) it just stops the preview without any action being taken.

    I had disabled the previous shortcut with Keyup as well as all others assigned to what I used (I tried both ; and /) but still no luck.

    Obviously, this gets to be rather infuriating when trying to sync to music, so if someone has solved this problem on the new Macbook Pros I would love to hear how.
