I wanted to do that File>Project Manager>transcode to save space and consolidate and archive.

The archived final material has DOUBLED in size, and each clip within is about 4X original size! Look, right there PPro is telling me I’ll wind up with 2.69 GB (below). Became 8.75 GB

Below – what settings could change for the better? I only want the used material to transfer.

Further below – I’m on ProRes 422 LT. I dont even know what those others are.

    Thank you !

What is your original footage that you edited with? Image size and codec?
ProRes LT may be less compressed than your original footage.

Without getting into the technical reasons why, the H.264 original would be a much smaller file size than the Apple ProRes 422 or LT copy.

We are given many options to transcode and archive. Can you suggest what the efficient logical choices might be, please?

I had a feeling it was h264 footage. As John said, and as you found out, ProRes will be a larger file. Your project was edited with the h264 original footage, right? If so, I would just keep that footage. I would not try to transcode it.
