I need to get a reliable aluminum USB external enclosure with a fan for 3.5 IDE

I just bought an NSpire and the thing died and killed my HD now I am in the process of recovering 250gb worth of backed up footage

I have 3 WD My Book and those are terrible, made of plastic noizy and unstable

I need something solid that I can carry around

    any suggestions?

If you really want to carry around, consider
to choose a 2.5 enclosure and a notebook HDD.
This will have the advantage that you don’t need
an external power supply for your drive (it is
    powered over USB).

Disadvantage is that you get about a half capacity
    for the same prise.

    Currently I’m using a Datalux 2.5″ with a 100G samsung
    notebook hdd.

No heating, no fan, stable, reliable thing.

For an external 3.5″ HDD I use a Coolink enclosure,
it’s without fan, I have a 400G maxtor in it.
The coolink (really cheap thing) enclosure works for
me more than a year, it contains the samsung 400G
since a month, it had a 160G maxtor before
(that was a bit warm – but worked for a while ;).
The maxtor took his new place in my sons machine
    as a secondary drive.
