  • Need advice for audio clean up

I currently have a job that was shot by an outside shooter. They screwed up and didn’t run the lav mic into the camera for a portion of the shoot. I need to see if any of you have any input on how to clean up the audio via EQ, compressor/limiter, or any other audio plugs in FCP in order to get the audio of the camera mic stuff to sound a little closer to how the lav would. I don’t need a miracle, I just need to roll off a bit of the echo and room tone a bit. Any suggestions?

    Hi Bob,
This is a common problem and one without an easy answer. It would be very difficult for the average non-audio person with FCP audio plug-ins to make much of an improvement. It is impossible without hearing the clips to recommend something to try. It would be easier to make the lav match the camera mic. Sometimes masking the problem with music helps.

Thanks for the advice, I know I’d need a miracle on this one. Just needed a bit of validation so I can tell my creative director that there’s not much I could do.
