Need a good streaming video compression technique….. MP4 or Mov?
I need universal access, so bandwidth restrictions and playability of the file are my main concern.
I found one setting within compressor that streams at approximately 800kbps but exports as an mov file… which means quicktime is necessary.
I have not had any luck streaming mp4 files as of yet… I get all audio and no sound, even when I have various streaming boxes checked.
I would love to get MP4 files to work, it’s just not working out for me and I’m wasting a lot of time trying.
the video size must be 640×360…. please let me know what you guys think. I’m getting tired of failing 🙁

Compressor 4 can do H.264 .mp4. Compressor 3.x can’t.
H.264 .mov will work in most of the same circumstances. You may want to look at your embed code.
Even Windows Media Player 12 can play H.264 .mov now. Quicktime not needed. -
What about on a Droid?
I see options here for mp4 and h264…. the files just don’t stream 🙁
Actually that’s not true, they stream on my iphone, just not on my computer.

I’m having people test and they are giving me a report that says “flash version 9.0 or better needed.”
I need something that does not require flash at all.

Yes it’s attempting to use Flash.
You could use an HTML5 video tag and an H.264 .mp4 file.

This is starting to get a little beyond my understanding.
I can easily add that code to the head of my site… that’s no problem at all.
I am always going to be stuck using s3flowshield though… as I have to protect this content. That plugin streams high speed from my amazon cloud and encrypts the data so that it can’t be stolen.
By adding this tag to the head, would that allow users to play on s3flowshield without flash?
I just bought compressor 4… I am exporting using the “wifi low” mp4 setting. I did not check anything within streaming.
Do you have any recomemendations with respect to compressor settings in compressor 4?

The Wifi low setting seems to work GREAT and I am able to play on my computer without a problem at all.
Now let’s see if it works on a droid.
