I have been asked to come up with a logo for “Community Crossroads.” We live in a city that is considered a “crossroads” between other towns and cities. There are no unique landmarks in our city. I have brainstormed myself to jello with lame thoughts of roads, stop signs, and the shapes of the letters in the words. I need something out of the box and brilliant and I can’t think of a better place to look for that than in this forum. Just a word or a thought would even be wonderful if it can send me in the right direction. I know “Community Crossroads” is a lame marketing slogan, but we are stuck with it… … the old folks with the money like it. Besides, if life gives you “lame-ons, make lame-onade.” Kind of gives you a headache in your eye, doesn’t it?

    Any help appreciated,

    Steven

You might be jumping to a solution while in the brainstorming stage. Just start blasting words, not motion graphics solutions. If a few pop up, that’s cool, but don’t try to direct the brainstorming that way. Brainstorming should be a kind of free-association.

Cross, x, RR, wide spaces, Jesus, offset, meet, join, directions, bows and/or arrows, conflict, not-perpendicular, XXX, many crosses, graveyard, throwing stars, addition (+), picket fence, rulers going “boing” when struck on the edge of a school desk, dotted lines on a street, parking spots, roadkill, wavy-air hot asphalt, desert, crop circles, sign with multiple directions (like M.A.S.H.), pointing fingers, motion trails, propellor, helicopter, fan, wheel spokes, ferris wheel, two fingers making an X, alphabet flashed on leading to X, X the unknown, ribbon of a gift, frame of a window or door, other architectural details …

    Hope that helps,
    Steve
