navigating long footage in short comp
if I have a short comp – like 5 seconds long or so – and drop in a 4 minute clip… and need only a very short pasrt almost at the end of the clip… how can I get to this part fast, instead of spending minutes with dragging the clip from left to right in 5 second increments.
I remember that I used to temporarily change the comp length in the the comp settings in order to be able to navigate easier… but there’s got to be another way…. right? ; )

Dave’s way is how to do it after the fact, but you can also open a footage item in the Footage panel before you add it to the composition, set an In point and an Out point, and then just use the trimmed footage item.

In regards to Dave.. That “Free” sign always gets me..
This has definitely turned into a Premier Pro forum question..
I tried opening another PP project file… copying some clips… and what do you know, it did not turn into a compisition!
But for some reason, the current project I am working on still does… So I will post in Premiere Pro section. Thanks
