  • Native HDV edit – Export to a format for PC

    Hi Bovines.

I’m not a FC user, but a colleage has edited a piece in Native HDV, which I will be doing the FX, grae and GRFX on.

I’m in PC land, and would like to work from a m2t file (native HDV) which I can convert to a cineform avi.

Is there a way to save a m2t stream from the FCP timeline, or does he have to export it to HDV tape?

    Cheers

    Brett

Brett, there’s no simple way to go to .m2t files without recompressing. Printing the edit out to HDV tape and digitizing it back in either on the PC or on the Mac (say using DVHSCap) is probably the simplest and will not involve a compression-generation loss.

    Thanks John.

I figured this would be the quickest, and most practical method. The problem is the editor has not been able to run this project (or any other for that matter) back to HDV tape. (SONY)

Any ideas. Can somebody point me to a link for this, or any tricks, or tips we should know about?

    It shouldn’t be this hard!
