NAS for Home Business Editing, 3 Macs
I’ve been reading the forums for years for advice but this is my first post.
My brother and I run a video business out of our house using two Macs and a MacBook running Adobe CC. Typically we have had the main hard drive & back up drives (WD Elements 5TB) connected to my computer. The problem though has always been working on the second & third computer, having to transfer all of the project & video files to another drive, then remembering to transfer it back, and trying not to lose track of what was transferred back to the main drive without becoming a mess.
I would like for all of the computers to be able to see the hard drive on their desktop and have it as a central location for everyone to be able to view and edit files without having to put the files on another drive for projects.
A 5TB hard drive always lasts us a year before we run out of room. Should we move in the direction of NAS?
Or what are your thoughts on having an Airport Extreme as a router and connecting a WD Elements hard drive into that as a server? Will that work?I greatly appreciate your input. Moo.
