  • Naming clips IN THE TIMLINE

    Hello!

I am working on a music video where I have digitised a reel of S16 as ONE master clip and split it up as several clips (in the timline not in the bin) which I have synced in the timeline with the audio from the CD. As I mentioned this is one whole clip in the bin wich has NOT been divided into subclips.

    Now heres the problem:

Because there are so many tracks I would like to individualy lable EACH CLIP in the timeline. How can I do this? Obviously I do not want to re-sync everything.

In FCP this is just as simple as dragging the clip from the timeline into the bin. But alas, it doesent seem to be as easy on MC Adrenaline.

    Any hot tips?

    Thank you in advance 🙂

    AFAIK it’s not possible.

What you’ve done is taken a whole orange, sliced it up and put it all on a plate and now you’re trying to tell the person you’re serving it to that two of the slices are bananas, some are kiwis, and the others are apples.

What you may be able to do is subclip each shot back to a bin, rename the shot, then replace the shot in the timeline with the renamed subclip.

It’s going to be a lot of work.

I may be missing the point but how about,
consolidating/decomposing which will create all the clips and then naming the clips the usual way.

Depending on why you need to name the clips you can add comments to each segment and set the timeline to display these comments, or show them in an edl.

Or redo the whole job in fcp which is apparently the greatest invention since the wheel.

You can add comments to clips in the timeline (local) and in the bin (source). In this case you would want local. You can then choose to display those comments on the clips in the timeline. Consult the help menu for the procedure.

Its possible. I do it all the time.

What he needs to do is Autosync or Group clip your subclips. You can now rename it.
