What is the best way to name clips? Anyway to do this in the field so that when I import the clips into FCP they are already named? How are people handinling this currently?

Nope. They are given their own uniquu clip names in the camera. 0001HR, 0002G5, 0003TM, and so on. Jan Crittenden who works for Panasonic said that if you have 40 cameras shooting for 2 years constantly you would not come across the same number twice.

What I do when I import is just add to the name: 0001HR-Mexican Infantry marching, 0002G5-Mexican Infantry aiming rifles…and so on. This naming stays only in the FCP project, and does not reflect on the clips themselves in the Scratch drive.
