Posted by Terry Esslinger on May 12, 2007 at 4:04 amOn the show CLOSE TO HOME friday night they closed the show with a very haunting song. I have heard it several times lately but not sure where. The word that is most noticeable in the song is hallelujah . Does anyone know thw name and artist in that song?

May 12, 2007 at 2:37 pmMy favorite version of the song, well behind the writer Leonard Cohen, is the version by “Over the Rhine,” which can be seen and heard here…
Over the Rhine is an Ohio-based band that never got very much fame but they have made incredible albums for about 15 years now. Quite good, as this clip shows.

I thought that you’d like it. I have been listening to OTR since 1991 when they got picked up by IRS Records for a short spell. Their “Patience” CD is an incredible piece of work and if you can find a copy, I highly recommend it. It doesn’t contain this song but it’s brilliant, nonetheless.

Right song, wrong version.Ron,
LOVE that version and sounds like the one that I heard. Goose bumps!
The Jeff Buckley version is also good and has some good instrumentation at the beginning. Thanks to both of you for answering.
