Hi, i was wandering if anyone could help out?

Is there a name for this look (effect) that is and has been used to make a 16:9 image out of a 4:3 one.

    Here is an example.

The issue is not doing this to the image, but just wanting to know the correct term for this look

    Thanks

Blurry Pillars is what I call it, but I don’t think there’s an actual term for this. Pillars because when footage is ‘pillar boxed’ that’s 4:3 footage in 16:9 with black on the side. But if you layer your footage, same shot underneath, stretch it to fit the sides, and blur them…thus blurry pillars.

    “re-scaled background fill”?

Hey Shane, thanks for the reply

Do you think the back ground image is stretched instead of it being the last few pixels of the 4:3 image that is “copied and pasted” to fill in the pillars?

    Hope this makes sense

    Thanks

    Miguel

It is either stretched, or blown up in size…
