I’ve been editing along for several weeks with few problems on my trusty MacPro FCP7 OSX 10.8.5 till now.

I’m editing with a significant amount of footage, 7 cameras, 6 GoPro all converted to ProRes LT 1920×1080 59.94. Today I open project/sequence and when I press play it’s the spinning beach ball for 5-6sec or 30-40sec before it plays, if I press stop, then play its the same scenario. If I drag the cursor up/down the lengthy and complex time line no problem, as soon as I stop then hit play it’s the beach ball again. WTF…

I actually had a similar problem a while back and discovered I needed an update to my Matrox MXO2 MAX and confirmed I currently have correct driver. I’ve talked with GTech to make sure no issues with my GSpeedes Raid 5 set up. I’m using Memory Cleaner to see how my memory is allocated and all looks good.
I do not have any Stills in the project or timeline so CYMK issues are not a concern.

I trashed prefs, repaired disk permissions, researched solutions, crossed my fingers and prayed to the edit gods, no solution yet. Any thoughts or trouble shooting tips will be appreciated.

    Thank You,

    Michael Harrington

Any luck with solving this? I’m having a similar issue in FCP 7 and using Matrox MX02 LE. Just updated to most recent driver for my OS (Lion) and maybe only a slight improvement, if any.
    Thanks
