mysteriously moving markers
I’ve been noticing this problem for a while and have got to the point where I can no longer bear it.
I have a long master clip of rushes and as I work add markers with titles to mark good shots I might want want later. so far so good, but then if I apply a speed change to that clip before cutting it into a sequence, then return it to 100% all my markers have moved. Is this a bug or there something wrong with my workflow?

This points to the fact that markers in FCP are so very elegant in some ways and so very inelegant in others. The fact is, markers are kind of “bassakwards” in certain ways. They are not tied permanently to the places where we might want them logically tied, and they are tied to other places where we might not want them.
The bottom line in your case is, if speed changes are the one thing messing-up the way you’ve chosen to use markers, then you probably need to make subclips before making those speed changes. Mark an in and and out point in the viewer and hit command+u to add that subclip to you browser, then make your speed change to the subclip before editing to your timeline. I’m pretty sure that will do the job for you.

Do you (or anyone else) know any more specifically what markers are tied to if they’re not tied to specific frames
I’m sure the subclip workaround will work but it seems a bit of a palaver…
