This is my list of the top ten features I would like Apple to build into FCPX:

    1. Roundtrip Compound Clips to Motion
    2. Roundtrip Compound Clips to Motion
    3. Roundtrip Compound Clips to Motion
    4. Roundtrip Compound Clips to Motion
    5. Roundtrip Compound Clips to Motion
    6. Roundtrip Compound Clips to Motion
    7. Roundtrip Compound Clips to Motion
    8. Roundtrip Compound Clips to Motion
    9. Roundtrip Compound Clips to Motion
    10. Roundtrip Compound Clips to Motion

There are other enhancements I would like to see, but these are the top ten.

I wish there was some way we send clips from FCPX to Motion and back again

There’s nothing we can’t argue about on the FCPX COW Forum

I’d rank Roundtrip Compound Clips to Motion ahead of that. It’s much more important. 😉

You need to look at the bigger picture… I don’t understand why you guys think those are all so important. There’s lots of other ways to skin that cat. What you REALLY need to improve your workflow would be the ability to Roundtrip Compound Clips to Motion. Now THAT’S what we’re talking about.

I’d switch to FCX tomorrow, if there was a round trip to Motion 5.

    🙂

[Shane Ross] “I’d switch to FCX tomorrow”

Why the one day wait Must not be high enough priority for you.
I’d switch 5 minutes ago…. heck even 2 years ago.
I’d bet you’d switch to Avid two years ago if it have round trip to Motion. 😉

I wish there was some sort of method to get compound clips from FCPX to Motion 5, and back.

Yet again, everyone but ME has this all wrong. You don’t need a round trip thing at all. You need a more modern, re-invented “back and forth” thing.

Other software has used “round trip” forever. Only Apple is capable of re-imagining this as “bi-directional back and forth” where stuff you do in FCP-X is “reflected” to Motion – and stuff you do in Motion is “reflected” to FCP-X. Which would be really sweet, BTW.

    Round trip is OLD thinking.

“Bi-directional back and forth” is NEW. And therefore BETTER.

Am I the only one who “gets” this stuff?

    ; )

Oh, and my free Movieola Webinar on Keywording is tomorrow at noon Pacific if you want to hear me spout off about some REALLY wacky ideas!

A way to get an edit in to Motion would be nice.

I can get an edit from FCPX in to Ae much easier than I can from FCPX to Motion.

But believe me, I get it.

[Don Walker] ” Roundtrip Compound Clips to Motion”

Geez, how would that even work? I mean, you’d have to have some kind of contextual menu item like, “Send to Motion” or something. And then the compound clips would have to be translated into layers or something in Motion. And then when you save, it would have to ripple the changes back through to FCP X.

    I just don’t think it’s possible.
