Hey, I have spent a great deal of time with this project, having dealt with many Sony Vegas faults such as crashes, freezes, files, formats etc. However there was always a way round them. Yet now, when i load my project, it gets to 6& loaded, then a error message pops up saying
‘An error occurred during the current operation. An exception has occurred.
Then if i click OK, it will close, if i click details this come up:

Only Sony developers can decipher a program dump so you should definitely contact Sony.

From what I can see, it’s dieing in a module called “mcmp4plug.dll” that may read MP4 files so I would say that there might be a piece of MPEG4 media on your timeline that is causing the problem. You might want to move some of the last MPEG4 files that you added to the project, into a new folder and tell Vegas to ignore missing files when it opens and see if you can get it to open that way. Then slowly move files back in until the project won’t open again. At that point, the last file you moved is most likely the problem.

OK thanks, you have gave me an idea with your answer. Will this work?
I convert all the mp4 files to a different format and then put them in the same location as the mp4 files (with same name, then get rid of mp4). Will that work?
If so, what is the most Vegas friendly video format? i have had a lot of trouble with formats, so i started using mp4 and it was working fine until one random day, this happens.

I personally always use WMV or AVI, WMV being my preference. I never have any problems. If you convert the clips, giving them the same names as the mp4 files won’t work for replacing them because the extension is different; however, move the mp4 files from their current location(s) so that Vegas asks where they are. Then use the option to find the files yourself and simply select the wmv/avi files instead.

WMV is just as bad as MPEG4 when it comes to editing because it is a highly compressed delivery format and not an editing format. I would use AVI files with an intraframe codec. If you are working in SD just use DV AVI.
