Who or where can I send my suggestions regarding Adobe Premiere? If you have the answers that would be great (because I can’t find the solution anywhere), but these are some of my pet peeves.

    1. Auto Bezier handles. (For things like opacity, motion, and other applied fx. Linear is almost always too abrupt.)
    2. Save multiple fx as a single preset. (Opening and applying multiple presets for a single clip get really old, really fast.)
    3. First and last keyframe handle points auto-attach to the front and back end of the clip. (When I adjust the length of a clip I would rather not have to grab ahold of every keyframe and adjust it’s new in or out position.)
    4. Apply preset fx (with keyframes) so that it conforms to the proportions of that clip. (Example: If I like the effect I have set on a 5 second clip, applying it to a 2 second clip requires adjusting all of the handle positions to fit within the 2 second clip.)
    5. I wish exported video, audio, and stills could be automatically imported into the project instead of hunting for the saved location and then importing.
    6. Why is there not an “undo” button inside the titler?
    7. Why is there not a “save as” button inside the titler? (This would allow us to stay within the titler and continue creating mutliple titles instead of exiting, opening, exiting, opening, etc.)

Thanks for your input. If anyone knows where (or if) Adobe has a suggestion box it would be appreciated.

[Jason Goldammer] ” I wish exported video, audio, and stills could be automatically imported into the project instead of hunting for the saved location and then importing.”

There’s a “import into project” tick box in the export media dialog box in Premiere CC.

    Some possible answers here.

    1. Choosing the default curves for keyframes of various types would be nice, or at the very least, shortcuts like After Effects (F9 for Ease, etc). Feature request here (and they ARE listening)

    2. Can’t save multiple FX as preset, but you CAN copy all or selected FX from one clip to another (or multiple selected clips). Directly select a clip in the timeline which has your FX cocktail applied. Choose “Copy” (Cmd+C or Ctrl+C). Choose “Paste Attributes” (I have this mapped to Cmd+Opt+V, like it was in Final Cut). Check the boxes for which of the Motion and FX parameters you’d like to paste, and whether or not you’d like to scale keyframe spacing for clips of different lengths (which may also answer one of your later questions). The checkbox choices that you enable within this dialog will persist until you change them again, which is really handy. Again though, if you’d like to save a set of FX as a preset please use the Feature Request form.

    3. Not exactly what you are requesting, but a really handy workaround: Select the clip for which you are about to adjust duration. Choose “Copy”. Adjust the duration of the clip as desired. Choose “Paste Attributes”. Tell it whether or not to scale attributes. I did this a million times a day in Final Cut, and it transferred to Premiere as well.

    4. Should be covered by “Scale to Fit” in the Paste Attributes dialog, unless I’m misunderstanding you.

    5. You can Ctrl+Z in the titler to undo.

    6. There is a button in the top-left of the titler editing window that looks like a filmstrip with a “T” on it. This is “New Title Based on Current Title”. It is essentially “Save As” (or really the reverse — it stops editing the current title and saves a new one to which you are now applying edits)

It’s worth noting that, to me, the Premiere Pro titler is far and away the best titler EVER in an editing program. Also, your signature says you’re on CS6. I had to use CS6 again recently at a client’s place, and I felt like I was taking a several-years-step backwards. The degree to which CC is better cannot be overstated. Hope some of this helps.

Save multiple fx as a single preset. (Opening and applying multiple presets for a single clip get really old, really fast.)

One of my favorite things about PPro. Command click on each effect you want in the Effects Control window and right click to save all of them as one preset.

I’ve got multiple effects (3 way colour and sharpen) set up as a single preset. Just command/ctrl + click on the ones you want, right click and save as preset.

Thanks for the responses. I will try them out, although the last time I tried saving multiple fx to a single preset it only saved the first effect I clicked on. The others didn’t show up later.

Am I missing something about CC? Isn’t a pay-by-the-month only service? I don’t like the idea of having my editor connected to the internet…at least where I work. (a small college) They continually push Windows updates, virus protection and force a 15-minute screen saver. (Matrox hates screen savers, so there would be no coffee breaks during exports or heavy rendring.) The IT guys cause nothing but problems. 😉

    1. I find myself doing an F9 all the time in Premiere and wonder why it doesn’t work. 🙂

Thanks again Will, for 2 thru 6. It lowered my stress level.

will, thanks for this. good info. I’m stuck in the decision to make the move from cs6 to CC or move to fcpX. might just go the cc route with this info…
