my FCPX can’t read ProRes ?
Hi folks,
I am a french production manager, postproduction supervisor and sometimes editor.
I have a 2,5 years old MBP 15″ (it’s a C2D 2,53Mhz with 8Go of Ram). I am trying to get into FCPX when I have some time…
For a few weeks I have a strange problem. When I shoot some footage with my EOS, I render the clips in ProRes or ProRes Proxy. I do that with MPEG Streamclip. And for a few weeks, FCPX just can’t’ read the footage. I have to let it render optimised and/or proxy media to be able to play the clips.
I just can’t figure out why. I deleted the App and downloaded a new copy from the App store without any change.Does any of you have any ideas to help me solve this.
Format and reinstall everything is something I would like to avoid as you can imagine.Thanks anyway and merry christmas.

Mayb there’s something weird with your Streamclip recipe.
I’d suggest to skip it, and import your DSLR footage natively. You can choose to transcode to OriRes whenever you want to, during or even after import.

if I import the footage straight from the camera, it’s just the same. I have to let FCPX render the clip in order to view anything

When you File > Import the clips, make sure the “create high quality” and “proxy” boxes are off.
