  • my export goes wrong, canon 7d 1920×1080

Posted by Nick Wijdeven on June 6, 2011 at 8:36 am

Hello everybody, thanks for looking at my problem.

ok this is the story, i shot a wedding with my canon 7d in pal 1920×1080
    24 frames sec.

i converted al the files with mpeg streamclip to ProRess 422
what i did in mpeg streamclip.
    -export to quick time
    -new folder
    -quality to 100
    -compression apple ProRess422

The rest i dont know any more
    -frame size? 1920×1080 unscaled,(16:9) or (HDTV1080)
    -frame rate?
    -interlaced scaling on of?
    -deinterlaced on of?

After conversion i imported the files into fcp
i drag a clip into viewer and than into the timeline.
fcp asks if i want to match clip settings, i say yes.

if i look at my sequence settings i see :

frame size :720×480 NTSC DV (3:2)
    pixel aspect ratio :NTSC-CCIR 601/DV (720×480)
    field dominance :lower even
    edited timebase :29,97
    anamorphic of
    compressor :DV/DVCPRO-NTSC
    quality :100
audio settings 48KHZ 16-Bit channel grouped

I edited the whole wedding video in these settings.
Now i want the best quality on a dvd
shall i use 16:9 or what do u guys suggest
but everytime if i export the sequence i get this.

    -image looks painted
    -shocking when i pan
-horizontal stripes i mean that the image u see is not sharp.
looks like horizontal pixels but than lines. i hope u understand

is there anny person who can help me out?

at the moment i have to leave the house i wil be back at 6pm
so if i dont response thats why
    thanks greets nick

If you shot PAL – it should have been 25fps.

You converted your HD Widescreen footage to 4×3 SD files. Bad.

    Start over.

    Convert to:

    1920×1080 Square pixels
    24fps
    Prores 422

Drop a clip into a new emtee sequence and let FCP change the settings to match for you – auto.
    Edit.

    Thank u so much Chris,

I started al over again with my converts and it looks in fcp already amazing.
    like the real footage.

If i look at the information in my browser i see:

    1920×1080 23,98fps apple prores 422 48khz 16bit integer 🙂

I was looking at ways to export my movie.

some people say that u export as quick time movie self contained

some people say use quick time conversion.

I want the weddingfilm on a dvd and maybe on a stick so they can watch it in bluray?

i want the best quality and a smooth movie

last time when i tryd to export i got shaky movements in my pans.

can u or anyone tell me the secret 🙂

    thanks already

    TO Make the DVD:

Export your finished video using Just Quicktime “Current Settings”
Make self Contained if you want a Digital Master for archiving on Hard Drives forever.

Drop that outputted file into “compressor” to make your DVD files.

Shooting in 24p can cause stuttering on pans.
