  • My 720×480 is rendering as 640 x 480

I have a comp that I am trying to render out to standard NTSC DV format for a TV spot.

My comp settings tell me the comp is 720 x 480

But when I render it out and open it in Quicktime it comes out as 640 x 480.

When I bring it into a 720 x 480 final cut project, there is a big black border around it because it is not big enough to fit the screen

    Any advice on this?

How are you rendering your project?

Make Movie? If so, what are your settings in the Output Modules?

    QT will ignore the settings.

    FCP is recognizing the letterboxing.

I use file, export, quicktime movie and select the animation codec

Try passing by the render queue instead of exporting. More options (filed interpolation, quality, motion blur etc). The render queue will also tell you what size the movie output will be.
