I’ve had the same issues with an MXO2mini and my current MXO2LE.

When in a Matrox Sequence, all of my monitors (Program, Source, and externals) skip frames when I pause. It is not 100% when playback at normal speed, but it is 100% repeatable at rewind and fast-forwarding. I’d say it can skip up to 5 frames. Needless to say, this makes editing extremely difficult.

Additionally, when in the Matrox Player setting (as I should be), the Source Monitor often plays the video back with a noticeable lag, particularly when first coming to it. If I were to pause and then play the same section again, it will usually play fine, but it is very frustrating.

No issues in Final Cut Pro.

I am on a brand new 17″ MBP, Quad-Core i7 2.3Ghz, 8GB RAM, 7200rpm drive. Matrox does the same issues with both ExpressCard and Thunderbolt Adapter.

Any thoughts? I found only one similar situation dealing with Avid Media Composer. The official Matrox response was that it was a “Known limitation of Media Composer software.” An odd answer. But even so, nothing related to Premiere Pro CS5.5.

    Thanks for your help!
    Matt

I have no answers but I do feel your pain. I have a similar setup and am also using the MXO2LE box. One of these times I’m actually going to tally up the ways that this box accelerates PPro versus ways that it slows things down…

    Yeah…

It’s a shame too because it runs on FCP so well! I can’t possibly imagine what makes it so different in Premiere. It’s a great box with great tech, and seems to offer more than the AJA and Blackmagic, especially with the MAX, but if I can’t get it to work properly than it doesn’t really matter.
