mxo2 no image w/ sony m35u
Hi,
I’m trying to capture Pal DV Cam through my Matrox mxo2 le via sony hmvr m35u.
The deck is connected to the mxo2 through xlr for audio and sdi for video
I’m not getting any video picture in my preview window.
I am getting audio signals.
device control is set to pal firewire.
I link is set to off on the deck and video switch is set to DV.
Can anyone help?
I’ve read about this problem with this deck in premiere but was not able to apply to my situation.
I’m running fcp 7 osx 10.6.4

Not sure why it doesn’t work if the control panel is set correctly, but why not just FW connection direct to the machine? You can still control it via RS-422 if it has that port too.

It’s a deck issue. I turned the mxo2 off to trouble shoot. The deck is supposed to do pal and ntsc and for some reason it I don’t get a video signal when I put the pal tape in. I’m still going through the menus to see if I can get it to work.

This deck does not have rs422 control. I have the deck connected directly to the firewire port which controls the deck just fine.
I got picture through a menu setting so that works now.
I’m trying to do some upconversion tests with the new matrox box that I bought testing various hd frame sizes.
When I try to use the Matrox presets for capture/input I get an unable to locate the capture devise warning.
I’m still coming up to speed with the Matrox box seeing that it’s 8hrs old.
Any ideas?

Check your Matrox setup. Is it set for SDI input? When you say the audio is XLR do you mean analog or AES/EBU digital connection. You would be better off using SDI for both picture and sound as this deck can output and embedded signal.

Of course you will need to make a custom easy setup as you are inputing via SDI but machine control with firewire. It is a shame they didn’t put RS422 machine control on this deck.
If you are using a standard easy setup, it will be expecting everything via firewire
