    HI there people.
since MXF is becoming more popular these and upcoming days, therefore, I have a question about MXF work flow.
I cut a music video that we shot with Pan HVX200, 720P. now I want to export to DVD. Does anyone know how am I suppose to do that without compresing the sequence (exporting the file as OMFI) and without loosing resolution. Or do I need any other devices of softwares in order to do that.
I tried to export the sequence as Quick Ref with Avid 1:1 codec(although I don’t have the MOJO) and the resolution sucks, we had subtitles there and there were blurry.
note that I am using Xpress pro 5.2.4 Academic version.
and Please don’t tell me go and read how to DVD it, because I couldn’t find my answers there.
I just need if someone has done this before and want to share the work flow information with me.
I really appreciate your time, effort and your generous help.

MXF is not a codec. It is a metadata wrapper around whatever codec is being used. In he case of the HVX200, it is native DVCPRO HD (codec) wrapped with MXF wrapper for timecode and other metadata types.

When in the Avid, you are editing naively with the DVCPRO HD Codec. When it comes time to do a DVD, it will need to encoded to a DVD compliant format such as MPEG2 for standard definition.

You can try exporting a QT reference of the sequence (just points to the Avid media) and encode in Sorenson Squeeze or other type MPEG2 encoder that supports QuickTime as an input. From there, create SD MPEG2 with the 16:9 flag on for the aspect ratio control.

So Sorenson Squeeze is a encoder right?
And I guess I have to buy it so I can encode the MXf files, right?
let me know if I am in the right track.
    thanks in advance.

Sorenson Squeeze includes MPEG2 encoding as one of its options as well as a host of a lot of other Web, DVD, HD-DVD, type encoding. You should be able to find just an MPEG2 encoder that accepts QuickTime as an input if that is all you need.
