I’ve have been reading through other threads, and I am already scared about what the answer is going to be! But I have to give it a shot.

I was recently provided by a client with about 200 gb’s of broll which was downloaded to a hard drive from P2 cards. However, whoever did it, only kept the VIDEO folder. I can only surmise they did this because they didn’t think they would need the rest of it, and because apparently Premiere can work with MXF files alone, without the need for the entire card structure (which is what they normally use)

I am working on FC Studio 2… is there any hope for me to be able to import this footage? I tried recreating the necessary folders (but they were empty) and even recreating the text file as suggested in another thread, all to no avail.

Here is my last shot… hopefully someone can help me out.

    Thanks a bunch!

Have a look at the mxf4mac component, it will allow you to handle each P2 MXF as it would be native Quicktime.

You may also want to check out Raylight for Mac. It will enable you to play and import the mxf files.

    Hope this is helpful,

Thank you both for your help! I was secretly hoping for something I could do myself to fix it, given that it would probably cost me more to get the software than I’m getting paid to edit this project. And i’ve never had a problem when I make the transfers myself, so I guess it’s time to bite the bullet….

    Thanks again!

Hi Veronica, if you are not responsible for messing up the card structure then it shouldn’t be you paying for this. 😉
