In 7, for prefs for AVC-I under the P2 plugin setting, I have all the ProRes codecs available. I always assumed that also applied to DVCProHD, but sounds like it doesn’t. In any case I always leave it to native. I like native. Native XDCam, native DVCProHD, AVC-I and Canon h264. It’s just one tiny fraction of a generation less IMO. Plus it takes up less space. I am not happy that we have to transcode to ProRes in X for 3 of the above 4.

There’s always Premiere, no transcode needed.

Yeah, not yet. I have it, and it might sound more appealing if I get a system with a nVidia card in January.

Just saw the new iMacs in person today. They really are sleek. But still, no FW800? Aren’t those LaCie rugged drives the Gold, er, Orange, standard of field drives?

    Whatever floats your boat.

There will be native p2 plugins coming soon if you need them.

I kinda need all my TB ports though. One loops through the pegasus to an old acer monitor for a second event monitor. The other goes to the ultrastudio express, which doesn’t have a loop through like the AJA.

Went and played with the mxf stuff in CS6 tonight just to see it play directly. Nifty. Still, Premiere needs so much work to feel ready to me.

Anyway, everyone is using 7, X, or Avid around here (except maybe Walter Biscardi I think.)

I hear you. Usb3 is the new fw800. It’s cheap, ubiquitous, backwards compatible with usb2, and fast enough for file transfers.

Yep, it has native MXF support that works well.

What I do like about X is that you can at least keep working while the footage optimizes.

Third parties will help now with others coming soon.
