June 17, 2010 at 4:31 pmI hear what you’re saying. The acceleration of the technology has somewhat negated the tremendously reduced prices…a $50,000.00 Betacam used to last for 6-8 years.
Now, with an Adobe upgrade every 18 months, you’re spending money a bit more often, but each program in Prod Premium upgrades for 50-80 bucks.
this last round going 64 bit was a jump, but frankly I don’t think PPro CS3 or CS4 would have had the reputation for stability problems that they ended up with had adobe went 64 bit only with those. They lost some reputation for maintaining that backward compatibility.
…another stark difference between Adobe and Apple. 🙂

June 19, 2010 at 4:08 amI was having a similar problem opening mxf files from a 360 video seerver, and could only do it with MXFSPLIT, part of mxf tools. I can’t find where I downloaded it from anymore but I can email it to you if you want. It’s a DOS app, ran from a command prompt, but it works on any mxf i throw at it. If you want tro try it, send me your email address to danhays2004@yahoo.com

April 12, 2013 at 10:54 pm[Rex Summerfield] “What do I need to do to get .MXF files into CS3? Right now its giving me an incorrect file format error. Does CS4 handle them better? I’m on a 32 bit machine so that is my upgrade limit.”
I have the same issue. I have CS3 3.2.0. Have a Canon XF-105 that produces MXF files. How can I import native MXF files from the flash cards downloaded after the shoot to an external hard drive into CS3? I am the Producer and need to see dailies. The editor has CS6 and can view the files. I have “Tipard Video Converter” (great Program by the way) and can easily convert MXF to MPEG or MOV or other, but takes time and an additional step. Suggestions please. Thank you. Larry.
