MXF Files – Codec problem MAC OS X
Hi all, really hoping to get some help here as I hit a brick wall.
We are shooting today on a PANASONIC AJ-HPX 2700 P2 HD Camera.
Once we get the files off the P2 card, our MAC Edit suite won’t let us use the files.
After Effects CS3 (8.0.2.27) error message – file ‘0001fj.MXF’ cannot be imported – files of type ‘MXF’ are not supported. Does anyone know what we need to do or buy to get the files to transcode correctly?

Do you have a Mac Pro but, Do you have Final Cut Studio or Adobe CS3 or 4 installed? It may be cause you dont have some drivers installed, that comes with those software…
You can use Raylight for Mac and Raylight MXF 2.0 to edit directly MXF files in FC or any other Quicktime based editing software, without trtanscoding. (DVFILM.COM)

Raylight’s a good way to do it as is Calibrated’s MXF Import for OSX and MXF4Mac. However, FCP could do this from FCP v5. In FCP 6 in the File menu choose Log & Transfer. You point FCP to the MXF volumes and you can view your clips, choose ins & outs and transfer them to the Logging Bin in FCP. I believe MXFs can be used directly in CS4, but not CS3.
