  • MXF File Importing into FCP 5?

Posted by Jason on February 14, 2006 at 5:00 pm

    Hello,

I downloaded a few MXF (Panasonic HVX200) files to test out in FCP.

The files are named ex. Flag.MXF.txt

Can someone help me out? I would like to import this into FCP and edit it.

    Thank You
    JAson

The only way I know of to import MXF files is from footage shot on a P2 card. They would have the suffix .MXF, and be a part of a whole bunch of other information. .TXT is a text file, in my experience.

But, you can try…I guess. You need at least FCP 5.0.4 and QT 7.0.3, and you could try IMPORT>PANASONIC P2.

But I doubt that will work. YOu need more information…and that .TXT tells me it isn’t an MXF file.

I thought that mxf files were from the new IMX format. if so then you can capture it using xdcam.

    Hello,

Ya, I found out the files were uploaded wrong 🙁

It seems they need to be in a contents folder also????

    Thanks all

Yes, as CONTENTS folder, and in the same place a LASTCLIP.TXT file. Inside the CONTENTS folder you need: AUDIO, CLIP, ICON, PROXY, VIDEO, VOICE.
