MXF clips in Premiere are cut off after a few seconds

December 10, 2022 at 10:26 pmI’ve never had this issue before until I was sent these files. Basically I’ll have a clip that I can see is supposed to be 10 minutes long, but when I import it into Premiere, I only get 2 seconds worth of footage. And randomly, as I shuffled it around on my desktop, I’ll actually get the full 10 minute clip imported, but it’ll only play the first 2 seconds before it freezes and I get this error:
“Error retrieving frame x at time x”
I’ve sent this footage to two separate editors working on the same version of Premiere as me (CC 2023), and it works fine for them. It only seems to be happening on my computer. I’ve attached my specs below, as well as things I’ve tried:

iMac Pro 2017
macOS Monterey
3 GHz 10-Core Intel Xeon W
Radeon Pro Vega 64 16GB

MXF File details:
Wrapper type: MXF OP1a (type: SingleItem SinglePackage MultiTrack Stream Internal)
File generated by: Sony, Mem (2.00)
H.264/MPEG-4 AVC Long GOP High Profile 4:2:0 Unconstrained Coding
Bitstream Format: Sony
Class 100
Gamma: S-Log3 Cine

- Tried resetting preferences, restarting computer, cleared cache
- Pulled footage from several hard drives, to no avail
- Tried dragging and dropping vs pulling from media browser, same result
- Tried using Premiere CC2022, same problem
- I know I can convert the footage, but seeing as how others haven’t had an issue with this footage, I’m looking for a more permanent solution here.
