Muzzle Flashes.
I’m planning making a Stop-Motion movie, with stick figures called STIKFAS. I got inspirated by this movie on YouTube called

In the movie, you can see the flashes and hits from the weapons. The creator did this in After Effects. I have been using alot of the Adobe Products but never tested out After Effects properly. Is there any tutorial on how to create shots, muzzle flashes and so on? If there isn’t, can you try to describe how to make it look just like in that movie? In my eyes it looks simple, but I thought I could ask you first before experimenting. Thanks. 🙂

there’s a few ways to do it, in that video it looks like just an orange dot that lasts a frame that they put infront of the gun, if you want to go for a more realistic look, check out detinationfilms.com they’ve got some free real muzzle flashes, jut bring them into AE and set the transfer mode to “screen” or “add” i like add but its up to you, then time it up with your footage and rotate/change the size so it lines up nice, and there you go.

You could also check out Andrew Kramers’ Action Movie Essentials, which includes tutorials and footage (muzzle flashes and explosions).
