Hey guys, Im looking for some opinions here. I just landed a 5k music video, from a band on an indy label. The shoot is nothing insane, no green screen, or effects. Just some color correction. maybe some black and white.

I have three camera choices, all with different post issues.

The xl2. I love this camera, and I love how it works. Its light, and you can get everywhere. we shoot a lot of handheld shotgun style. A lot of the video will be slow mo, and the 60i function helps that a lot, for planned slow mo shots….its minidv…easy to capture. Basically, this is the cop out camera, cheap to rent, easy to use…ive done that.

the hvx200. p2 cards, hd, real slo mo…pain in the arse to transfer the footage, i want to stay mobile, and not have that extra person on set. Ive edited a few shoots using p2card footage, they each lost at least 1 card full of data. it will perhaps look the best, im not sure if the hassle is worth it.

sdx900. i’ve used it before, it looks great, and is great for color correction. I imagine it has a 60i mode, which could help with the FCP slo mo’s.

Basically the video is 2 performances shot on location, mixed with a story, the story will be all slow mo, and peppered into the performances.

any takes, ideas..i want to keep it as simple as possible, but i do have some decent money to play with

I’d go with the SDX 900 if you plan on an SD post workflow. It’s the only one out of the bunch that has a 2/3 inch chip and that makes more difference in the style of shooting you’re looking to do.
