Music Video Film Grain effect (Overlay)

That’s a film leader. Just Google for “Film Leader” and you’ll find lots of stuff to choose from. (here’s one example) Then composite it using “Screen” and it should blend nicely into your video track.

I love Film grain, but im looking for something more natural. Has anyone used Artbeats (artbeats.com)? My issue with it is that it repeats too much and takes a bunch of time to make it look natural :/. Anyone have a copy of Cinegrain (cinegrain.com)? Their film effects and light leaks look SICK, and work easy in FCP, according to the site, But i want to try it, anyone know where to get a trial or student version of Cinegrain?

Have you looked at the collection of Film Process in Boris Continuum Units? (Also in BCC7) You’ll need Vegas Pro 10 to use them but there is a trial version that you can sign up for.

hmmm no ill look into it, im not a huge fan a Vegas, FCP is more my type, do you know where i can get Cinegrain?
i will look into downloading vegas for the grain, im a big fan of how it can make video look

You’ve already been on their site looking at it so you know where that is.
It comes on a hard drive (75 GB. to 1.94 TB.) and they say nothing about trial versions or student discounts but you can always email them and ask.

I learned about CineGrain recently while I was coloring a commercial at a new hat. They just received the 2k version ($5000) and he was saying that CineGrain is what all the pro’s are starting to use because it has about $80,000 worth of film production and post work on one harddrive, and it’s 2k so it’ll work with everything including VFX. He said CineGrain recently started making the $1500 uncompressed version for people that don’t need 2K and $350 ProRes version for prosumers. He was saying that CineGrain’s gonna become industry standard because their stuff is so much better than plugins and so much cheaper than digital vision.

He demoed the footage and it looks Insane. I wish they sold individual files, but at $350 it’s way cheaper than artbeats and way way way cheaper than gettyimages. hell, it’s less than the price of fotokem.

Gary who told you about this at New Hat? I checked them out and their reels make it look like they have done some big stuff, are they using it on their HD material? Do you have anything that you can show us that has Cinegrain on it?
I have a music video coming up and i want the sweet orange film-roll-out effect as a transition. Im still torn about buying artbeats, i feel like im paying way to much for a CG film grain fake, but Cinegrain is new, what do you guys use for vegas?
