    I have a client who wants a specific song featured in a locally run commercial. I’m doubtful that they have the money to license it, but they want to know price anyway.

    A Google search turns up several outfits that specialize in music supervision and rights clearance, but I was curious if anyone here had any experience with a specific company that they would recommend.

    I’ve had experience with BZ rights. https://www.bzrights.com

    They have always been quite helpful. Expect to pay them for researching a song, althought they may have an idea on a ballpark number.

    Hi Jason,

    I don’t know if you received an answer to your rights/ music problem, but I wanted to suggest a music licensing firm here in Montreal – they specialize in that sort of thing, and do alot of great indie placement. Indie, as in, the artist owns the music, so you don’t have to go through 8 lawyers and 6 months to clear your rights;

    the company is Third Side Music; talk to Mary Harris

    good luck!
