Work for a small municipal govt. We currently use Velocity “Live” effect from their capture card coming from a Pan MX-20 with CG superimposed on timeline in Velocity. Works fine, but it’s an 8-10 year old computer system. If i new it would last forever i’d be ok with it, considering we are a low budget outfit. I just know it’s gonna crap out soon so need to replace with a live switching system.

We have a council chamber set up…no studio usage, so it’s only used twice a month. I have 3 Panasonic Aw 300 box cameras with corresponding pan/tilt motor. I plan on keeping same camera system but upgrading to HD cameras in future so switching system i need would have to be SD/HD or HD upgradeable. Was priced a BPix Slate 500GA system. It’s about where our budget would max out at, at most(15-17K w/installation & training).

What other system are out there that i should consider in this price range?

    thanks for any help.

I myself prefer Broadcast Pix, but one of the smaller Tricasters might be a good solution too… https://www.newtek.com

We have been installing the new ATEM switchers in several situations similar to yours. (Churches, municipalities, and schools). They are very affordable and seem to be quite reliable. They are either SD or HD and have a great deal of routing capability. Give us a call at 800 711 0140 and we would be happy to discuss it with you.

Check out Broadcast Pix’s new VOX system. Might be what you need.
