One of our issues we keep trying to resolve is ways to locate specific files/media when we have a need. We tried Final Cut Server and that was not a good experience for our house. As we’ve looked at X, it seemed to be ideal because of the media management, smart searches, keyword bins that it uses. But essentially, it does not do what we had understood/hoped it would do. . .

March 15, 2013 at 5:06 pmFinal Cut X is still an NLE and not a media asset manager. Perhaps, some day, multiple users will be able to draw from a central Event, but I wouldn’t count on it.
Perhaps take a look at Cantemo Portal as a media asset manager. Or CatDV.

FCP X is NOT an asset management tool. The collections, searches, etc. are only specific to the events loaded by a single editor.
