Went thru the adobe instruction on this and got lost.

Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 8.00 GB
    Total Virtual Memory 16.5 GB
    Available Virtual Memory 4.19 GB

hard drive 78 gb free of 452gb (i’m working on freeing up another 50gb to give 128gb free)

graphics card: Intel HD graphics 1696mb

    GPU: Arrandale 8086 – 0046 ddr3 128 bit 370mhz clock memory clock 540mhz

I would probably leave multiprocessing off — 8GB of RAM isn’t all that much to satisfy MP’s high RAM requirements.

If you do turn it on, the Adobe recommendations are to leave 2 GB for other applications, and to allocate 1.5 GB per CPU.

I’d probably be a bit more conservative since you only have a dual-core processor, leaving 4 GB for other applications and allocating 1.5 GB per CPU.

A little experimentation will show which settings are quickest, but this can vary quite a bit depending on the memory requirements for the comp you’re rendering.

    thanks for your help, Walter.

I’ll try it a couple different ways but will start without multiprocessing turned on like you recommend.

    thanks again

Hi – I’m just starting with AE, doing a tutorial with Digital Tutors, and AE has started to run impossibly slow… System Info: iMac, 27″ mid 2011; 3.4 ghz Intel Core i7 processor. 12GB of RAM. Graphics Card – AMD Radion HD 6970M 2048 MB. 763 GB free on a 2TB SATA disk drive.

Preferences are set at: RAM reserved for other apps: 3 gb
Render Multiple Frames Simultaneously – ON (though OFF makes no difference)
Installed CPUs 8 (don’t know how to change this value)
RAM allocation per background CPU 1.5 gb
Actual CPUs that will be used: 4.

I’m most with “hyperthreading,” etc. Can anyone help? Images take a minute to show up… and make working impossible. thanks!

    Bill
