    hey
say I have a track on multiply , eg different clips of white text on black with spaces in between the clips (ie the clips on that track are not continuous) . underneath on another track I have some normal video. Where there is a text clip playing on the multiply track, its fine: the video shows through where the text is. But in the spaces between the text clips, I dont see anything…the video track is blacked out. I Guess because the multiply track is multiplying the normal video by zero as there is nothing on the multiply track.

Is there a way to work round this? Can I ‘turn off’ the multiply track where I dont want it? or is there a parent-child solution?

Very much appreciate any help, this is an environmental film about energy (see energyunion.eu)

    thanks
    Matt

I believe you are looking for the following:

    Create three video tracks

Place the white text on black on the upper track

Place the filling for the text on the middle track

Place the background on the lower track

Add the mask generator fx to the upper track (choose luminance)

Make the middle track a child of the upper track

Set the uppertrack to multiply (mask)mode.

This is what you are looking for?
