I’ve searched for this all over, forgive me if I have missed where the answer is located. I’m thinking I may not be using the correct terminology…
I am using a keyer (Keylight) to attempt to key some footage. In the Keylight manual, it says that I can have multiple views of the comp. open (which I am able to do by placing mouse over the ‘select view layout’ and then scrolling with wheel). I put 2 horizontal views up, but the problem is no matter what changes i then make with the keyer, or any AE effect for that matter, the result is shown on both views.
I’ve tried locking/unlocking each view, creating new viewers from both locked and unlock comp. views, etc.
Can anyone help me with this… I’m trying to apply effects/keying in one view while having the other view show the results…

Views don’t allow you to see the composition in different states (one view with the layers visibility off and one view with the layers visibility on), They DO however low focused close ins of an area and still having a view of the overall picture of the composition, they also are very helpful when it comes to working in 3d with after effects

as to why keylight saw fit to mention that you can split the views, i can only guess

more then likely they wanted you to zoom into an edge for one view, and keep an overall picture of what your keying in another, and tweak the keylight values until the key comes out nice.

I think you’re right… the help pdf for keylight reads:

(image above text in keylight pdf)
    https://img508.imageshack.us/img508/5803/2viewssp4.jpg

It can also be useful to view the Status and Source side by
side as shown in Figure 14 so that you can pick from one
while viewing the result in the other window.

Referring to the image above, in keylight, in allows you to see different ‘stages’ during the keying process. When I arrange AE with 2 horizontal views, whenever I try to view different stages per view, it just updates BOTH views to whichever I select in keylight.
I guess I should be asking how do i get each view to stay at which keylight stage I want to view for ‘that’ panels view in AE?
