Im looking to add a short clip over the top of an existing longer clip… I thought this would be easy enough by dragging the new clip onto another track but it seems to share the audio track as well…

Is there a way to copy only the video of my new track as i want to keep the sound from my original track… Or delete the audio from my new track, iv tried deleting just the audio and it deletes the whole clip

    Thanks

Here’s 2 different ways of doing this.

Click the audio track and press “U” (ungroup) or select “Ignore Event Grouping” (a toolbar icon). It’ll now delete and leave the video.

You could also load the new clip into the Trimmer first, Ctrl+A to select all, right-click and choose “Select Video Only” and drag that to the timeline.

You could also right-click the video file in Explorer, drag to timeline, and select Video Only-Add track across time from the resulting sub-menu.
