I am running Premiere Pro CC 2017 v11.1.4 and Media Encoder CC 2017 v11.1.4 on a HP Z8 with Windows 10. I prefer to keep Premiere and Media Encoder on the same versions as each other as in the past I’ve had issues when the versions don’t match up. I need to stick with the 2017 versions in order that I can share the graphics drivers with the version of Avid Media Composer I’m running on the same machine.

The new support for ProRes export on Media Encoder v13.0.2 would be really useful for some of my workflows, but I’m a little nervous about running 2 versions of Media Encoder on the same machine.

Is there any reason why I should be? Or is it generally fine to keep two versions running side-by-side? Would Premiere default to the newer version of Media Encoder when queuing exports or carry on using its 2017 version?

    TIA.
