For ease of pulling the shots I need (different versions of an interview, c/u, wide, two shoot etc), I have “torn off” six sequences to their own windows and arranded them on my second monitor, two columns of three, but when I click on any of them I get no video, just a frozen picture. (None of the windows are overlapping) The time lines play, and I can hear audio but no vision.
If I put them all back in the same sequence window all is well, and I can tab to any of them and they play fine, but this is not the most convienient way to access the media.
They are not identical versions, so multiclip is not an option.

Any reason this should not work?

    Many thanks

    Hi,

Final Cut Pro can only play out from the Canvas window. ONce your “tear” off the sequence tabs from the Cnavas window, they are not longer linked to the Quicktime output. This may be why it’s not working.

    Hi,

I was wrong. It does work. The trick is to click on the “tab” when you want to activate the corresponding video in the Canvas window. Merely activating the sequence window but click anywhere in it will not work.

Many thanks, I have spent far to long trying to solve this by myself.
