    Hello,

I’m currently working on a NTSC 4:3 project and a HDV project and going back and forth between the two. When I check or change my project settings to reflect the project I’m in, it copies those settings to my other projects. This is driving me nuts and making a mess of things.

Is there a way to lock in a project’s settings? Is there a way to copy the settings for both the sequence and the project from a clip, after it’s been started (meaning after I’ve already added the clips – I don’t get the dialogue asking if I want to change my sequence settings to match the clip anymore)?

    Thanks,
    Valerie

Hey there Valerie, it’s me again…

The answer to your prayers is Preference Manager, a free tool from the kind folks at http://www.DigitalRebelion.com. Preference Manager works kind of like the old FCP Rescue in some ways, as it allows you to save, trash and restore preferences, but it goes way beyond “Rescue” because it allows you to name and save sets of preferences that correspond to the various formats you are editing in various projects.

For example, in my case I have a various preferences saved such as: SD Widescreen; SD 4×3, HDV, and ProRes. When I double load one of these it trashes the prefs that are loaded and then loads the new one I’ve selected. It’s the perfect solution for you.
